Born from frozen ponds, locker room laughs, and a quarter-century of busted laces, bumps, bruises and broken bones, Colorado Hockey Threads is where my love of hockey meets my obsession with designing shirts fluent in puck.
It all started on those early morning skates when the ice was fresh and the rink was quiet—just a few guys warming up, your stick, and the sound of blades carving through another day of chasing the dream. Over 25 years of playing the greatest game on Earth, I've collected more than just memories. I've gathered stories from every shift, every overtime battle, every post-game celebration, and yes, every embarrassing fall that had the bench in stitches. Hockey isn't just a sport to me—it's a lifestyle, a language, and a brotherhood that transcends the scoresheet.
About a decade ago, I started channeling that passion into something tangible: designing hockey shirts that spoke the language only players truly understand. What began as inside jokes for my teammates became shirts that captured the absurdity of beer league glory, the pain of Monday morning games, and the unwritten rules we all live by. These things slowly evolved into something bigger. My designs made teammates chuckle (and occasionally groan). These became locker room staples, and sparked conversations that lasted longer than our warm-ups.
After years of keeping these creations within the sacred walls of my beer league circle, I finally decided it was time to share them with the wider hockey community. Because let's be honest—if you've ever taped a stick at 11 PM before an early game, survived a tournament weekend on gas station coffee and determination, or explained to non-hockey people why you willingly wake up at 5 AM to play a game that leaves you sore for days—you deserve a shirt that gets it.
Backed by my all-star team—three energetic kids who think Dad's hockey obsession is both cool and slightly ridiculous, one incredibly patient wife who's learned to decode phrases like "wheel, snipe, celly" and tolerate the smell of hockey gear in our mudroom, and a basement that's become less storage space and more T-shirt headquarters—this store is my tribute to the game, the grind, and the people who live for both.
